"We aim to Alleviate Poverty through Kai & Kindness"
The Kai Kitchen Trust was founded in August 2015.
Earlier in 2015 we were made aware that there was a severe poverty issue in and around the South Taranaki region, this spread far wider than we could ever imagine, and we just couldn't sit back and do nothing!
As more needs were identified, it was obvious that we had some very hungry children in our area, their health and education were suffering immensely. Very quickly, our founder, Rochelle established a School Lunches program to ensure that hungry children were fed during their school day, allowing them to learn and thrive with a full tummy! This was named "The Kai Kitchen". Pretty quickly The Kai Kitchen became a locally recognised charity, and things quickly stepped up a notch! Quickly a committee was established, a bank account was opened, and fundraising began!
The Kai Kitchen now delivers lunches to 40+ local school children daily, keeping those children nourished and healthy. We offer emergency food parcels to families at breaking point, and we also offer School Uniforms and Stationary to those in emergency situations!
We continue daily through the amazing donations and fundraising efforts within our own community. None of the things we offer would be possible without a community standing together to help those in need. This is a community organisation, it is community focused and community funded. Thank you so much to our community for helping us, to help others!.
